I am the clown.
So, with my laptop on my desk, I try connecting to my home wireless internet, but for some reason, it kept saying that the settings from my laptop does not match the settings on the router. So I connect to the router via an Ethernet cable and check my router settings, removing the password and reconnect while next to my router (which is downstairs)

Everything connects fine, so I re-secure it with WPA2, remove the Ethernet cable and connect. Works fine. I is happy. I go back upstairs with my laptop, set it down on my desk and I lose connection again. Check why and it says that my settings do not match the settings of my router.

I'm assuming somethings in my room's walls or something, so I'm going to move the router upstairs to see if that fixes it. Anyone got any idea what could possibly be wrong with my laptop/router/connection/walls?

well if your laptop connected wirelessly with it when it was next to the router, its highly unlikely that theres a problem with the settings on your router or laptop...it has to be something in the walls.

did this just recently happen?

It started happening tonight. I can walk around the house with my laptop and be connected everywhere, except my room. Note that although my room is the furthest room from the router, it still picks up 2-3 bars.

huh, thats really weird. was any work done in your house that wouldve caused any connection interruptions? thats the only thing i can really think of. moving the router in your room would solve your problem, but it may cause problems for other people in your house using wireless....try it out at least though

I've only got a desktop and a laptop and they're both used upstairs. The only work that's been done is some TV cabling in my roof. I wouldn't think that would've caused the problem, except that I'm using Cable internet and the guys been rewiring some stuff in the roof. But that wouldn't cause a no-coverage area in my room, because my phone works fine in there.

Just tear down the walls!

...

Yeah, I have no idea. Maybe the adapter on your computer is going wonky?

Just in that one room? Today's a day that I bring my laptop to school, so I'll test it there as well.

You said it was the farthest from the router, right?

I still get that 2-3 bars and about 90% speed.

And my laptop has worked there for the past year and a half, so I don't get why now and why only my room.

I'm not sure. Wireless networks are not my strong point >_>

'sall good. I'm trying to eliminate possibilities as I go. Wireless works fine, so it can't be the adapter.

I have a feeling it has something to do with the beta Microsoft Desktop Player that I installed, then uninstalled.

Oh, that's it? Just download moar RAM! This leads me to believe its the adapter, but that's because I can't think of anything else. As long as someone isn't messing with you, it has to be on your end.

could be interference from somewhere. anything that operates on microwave frequencies? those wreak havoc on WiFi signals. perhaps a cellphone too near the comp?

What's the Microsoft Desktop Player like then?

the only logical answer is that you have some source of interference in your room.
